Introducing Roshambo, A New Project

Introducing Roshambo, A New Project

It’s been quite a while since I posted anything. Somehow, I literally erased my old blog from the internet (I didn’t even know that was possible) so I’ve spent the last few months rebuilding it on a new platform. Squarespace, FTW.

Besides rebuilding my blog, I’ve been working on a new endeavor with my husband (a musician) and my friend, Clancy, who just graduate with her MFA in San Francisco. About a month ago, the three of us went to dinner in the city and drank a decent amount of wine, at which point Clancy came up with the idea for this project. Once she graduated, Clancy moved back to our hometown to take a job managing an art gallery. We wanted a way to keep in touch and keep working on things together. We also wanted a way to continue pushing ourselves creatively, since all of us have been having a hard time with that recently. Thus, Roshambo was born.

Part art project. Part game. Roshambo is a multi-disciplinary and collaborative art project played in rounds. Each round, one of us creates a piece of work and the rest of us respond to it by making something in our own discipline.

We started a blog where we each post our piece of work and a little information about our creative process. There will probably be quite a bit of crossover between the Roshambo blog and my personal one. I’m going to try to get more technical on this site, whereas the Roshambo posts will be more about the creative process and inspiration.

The site is up and running and we all just posted about Round 1 here

My dish was a Beet Gnocchi with Squash Blossom and Herbs.

You can read all about it on the Roshambo site. The dish this round was actually pretty simple and came about very organically, so there wasn’t a lot of messing around with techniques and such. But, a little sneak peak, the next dish is going to be much more complex. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy perusing Roshambo. I have some super talented friends!
